21 Days of Prayer & Fasting

Mon, Jan 5 - Sun, Jan 25

At the start of each year, we take 21 days to seek God's presence and accept his invitation to the awakened life. Through the spiritual practices of prayer and fasting, we open ourselves to Jesus and the work of the Spirit.

As we fast and pray for the transformation of our world, we do so trusting in the work of the Holy Spirit.

From Mon, Jan 5 – Sun, Jan 25, we will be:

  • Using Lectio365 app as a community-wide daily devotional.
  • Fasting as a community.
  • Participating in Prayer & Worship Nights.
  • Covering a week of 24/7 Prayer.

24/7 Prayer Room

Sun, Jan 18 at 12pm — Sun, Jan 25 at 12pm
Location: Lower Level, Cape Campus

Our 24/7 Prayer room is a creative prayer space that enables a chain of unbroken day-and-night prayer as our church seeks the presence of God together. Join us as we set aside space to pursue God’s presence in a way that covers every moment of an entire week as a church.

How to participate: We are asking people to sign up for an hour to come by our 24/7 prayer room, either alone or with others. We will provide ways for you to spend time in prayer that are engaging and helpful so that we can stay focused and enjoy being with God.

God is always with us – but when we set aside a space specifically for meeting with Him, He loves to answer our invitation.

Types of Fasting

As the people of La Croix Church, let's fast to see heaven come to earth. In his now classic book, Celebration of Discipline, Richard Foster explains the ways of fasting found in scripture:

Normal Fast:
This method involves abstaining from all solid or liquid food, but not water, for a specific period of time. Many people in our community use John Wesley's method of fasting from morning until mid-afternoon.

Partial Fast: Often based on the book of Daniel, this approach restricts the diet to specific foods, such as fruits and vegetables, rather than requiring total abstention.

Absolute Fast: Reserved for extreme circumstances, this rare fast involves abstaining from both food and water for a short duration.
If you have any questions about your health and participating in a fast, please consult your doctor.
